
The following details awards given out at our AGM in May each year.
Flower and Foliage bench
Betsey Mowbray Rose Bowl Trophy
Presented in 1982 at the bequest of and in memory of Mrs. Percy Ball. Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year for roses on the Flower and Foliage Bench, provided that at least twenty-five percent of those points were gained for Old Garden Roses.
Special awards trophy
Presented to the member gaining the most special awards on the Flower and Foliage Bench during the Garden Club year.
Christiana S. Zuill award
Presented in 1995 by Joyce and William Zuill to commemorate the lifetime interest in ferns and gardens of Christiana S. Zuill. Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year for Potted Plants on the Flower and Foliage Bench.
Betty Blossom silver salver
Awarded to the member gaining the most points on the Flower and Foliage Bench throughout the year.
Fruit, Vegetable & Herb bench
The Tucker bowl
Presented by Mrs. Edmund Zuill and Mrs. Warner Gardner in memory of their mother, Mrs. William Tucker. Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year for vegetables on the Fruit, Vegetable and Herb Bench.
Virginia O. Cooper bowl
Presented by her family in 1990, in memory of Virginia Outerbridge Cooper. Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year for fruit on the Fruit, Vegetable and Herb Bench.
Specials award
Presented to the member gaining the most special awards on the Fruit, Vegetable and Herb Bench during the Garden Club year.
Mrs. John Bluck trophy
Presented in 1977 by Mrs. Joy Bluck Waters in memory of her mother, Mrs. John Bluck. Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year on the Fruit, Vegetable and Herb Bench.
Mrs. Madeline Daisley Award
Presented in 2016 to encourage members to grow and enter herbs on the Vegetable Bench. Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year for herbs.
Floral Art Division

Veronique Dutfield award
Presented in 1989 by Mrs. Dutfield when she was leaving Bermuda. Awarded to the beginner gaining the most points on the Floral Art Bench.
The Michael Owner Memorial Award
Presented to the member gaining the most points throughout the year in the Intermediate Class on the Floral Art Bench.
The Jean Motyer Award for Miniatures
Presented in 2016 at the bequest of and in memory of Jean Motyer. Awarded to the member gaining the most points for Miniatures during the Garden Club year.
International Design Symposium founder’s award
Presented in 1984 by Mr. Kenn Stephens in recognition of the support and leadership of the Garden Club of Bermuda in the founding of the International Design Symposium. This trophy is competed for in a designated month (see schedule) and may be awarded for superior design in the arrangement of flowers, foliage and fruit. Dried or painted material may be used.
Mary Margaret Dill award
Presented in 1987 by friends of Mary Margaret Dill in her memory. This is competed for in a designated month (see schedule) and may be given for a superior design using all foliage.
The Bermuda trophy
Presented by Mrs. Elfrida Chappell for an exhibit of plant material and flowers all grown in Bermuda.
Mary Pope award glass vase
Presented by Mrs. Cecil Pope, founder president of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS). Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year on the Floral Art Bench.
Photography Division

The Betty and Tom James Award
Presented in 2023 by Mrs. Betsy Baillie in memory of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James. This covered silver dish, from their personal collection, is awarded to the member with the highest points in the Open Classes 1 and 2.
The Silver Cup
Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year in the Novice Classes 3 and 4.

Gladys Hutchings trophy
Presented in 1977 by the Nat Hutchings family in memory of Miss Gladys Hutchings.
Conservation

Pat Shutter award for the promotion of conversation of Bermuda’s environment
Presented in 1991 by the Executive Committee of the Garden Club of Bermuda in recognition of the outstanding contribution Pat Shutter made to the Club during her years as a member and during her presidency, 1989-1991. Awarded annually to the individual who has made notable contribution in the field of conservation.

The Janet Owner Award
Presented by Mrs. Janet Owner and awarded to the member who has made an outstanding contribution to special events held by The Garden Club.
The President’s award
Presented by Deanna Moss and awarded to the member chosen by the President in recognition for and in appreciation of the member’s assistance.
Retired Awards
Buttonwood Award
Presented in 2004 by Michael and Janet Owner in memory of her parents Harry Oakes and Florence Johnson Wakely. Awarded to the member gaining the most points throughout the year for Annuals.
Philip Woolf Plate
Presented by Philip Woolf in 2010. Awarded to the member, exclusive of officers, who has made an outstanding contribution to the Garden Club work during the past year. This individual is to be chosen by the officers.
Winnie Walker bowl
Presented in 1967 by her many Springfield friends in memory of Winifred Lowry Walker. It is awarded to the member who has accumulated the highest total of points on the Flower and Foliage Bench, the Floral Art Bench, the Fruit, Vegetable and Herb Bench and the Plant Sharing Bench during the Garden Club year. Such member must have exhibited at least three times in three of the four Benches.
