The Smith Garden

This charming tiny garden created by The Garden Club of Bermuda on the property of H. A. & E. Smith Ltd is located in Barber’s Alley, St. George for the enjoyment of the public. It was opened by H.R.H. The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, on 7th October, 1999.

The Historic Town of St George and Related Fortifications, Bermuda, is the earliest example of an English Colonial Town in the New World. Permanent settlement here began in 1612. It was granted designation as an USNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.

Originally designed by Garden Club member, Evelyn Young, the Garden is maintained by a roster of members on a bi-weekly basis, weather permitting.

On the occasion of the first Bermuda National Trust’s evening Christmas Walkabout in 2017 through the Town, the Garden was opened to the public and has been showcased every year since
